We strive to make the internship a hands-on opportunity for students to work as part of our team and gain valuable experience in the strategic communications and public affairs industries. We've had some wonderful people intern at C+G along the way:
Jorah was a senior graduating from George Washington University in May 2016 with a degree in Political Communication, and a minor in Music. She has held a wide variety of communications internships, including with a Congressional campaign, an international development organization, and an event-planning company. Jorah hopes to enter the field of PR after graduation, ideally working with arts and music organizations, which would be a happy marriage of all of her interests!
Matt started interning for C+G a few months after he graduated from Emerson College, where he earned a B.S in Marketing Communications. As a student, he interned at a few different agencies where he could explore his primary career interests: PR, social media, content marketing and all the ways these areas intersect. His goal is to pursue a career where he can help companies tell their stories through digital marketing and communications.
While interning with us, Sally was working toward her Masters in German and European Studies (MAGES) at Georgetown University. Throughout her studies she has focused on topics in international business and trade as they pertain to the transatlantic policy sphere. Prior to attending Georgetown, she worked as a Project Manager at Morningside Translations, an IP and corporate translation services firm. After Georgetown, she plans to work in communications in the field of international policy or business.
Kemi recently earned an MA in Communications from Georgia State University and applied for the C+G internship to get hands on experience and learn about best practices in the PR/Communications industry. She is looking to move on into an associate/entry level position in a communications firm and work with great brands in the future.
Alex was a summer intern prior to his senior year at Elon University in North Carolina, where he majored in Strategic Communications and a minor in Environmental Studies. Previously, he was a public relations and marketing internship for DC Home Buzz, a real estate brokerage in Washington D.C. Alex plans to pursue a career abroad, expanding his knowledge of the communications world and diving into new cultures.
Ciara studies Homeland and National Security Studies with a focus on Arab World Studies and a minor in Arabic Language at American University. After graduation, she plans on attending law school and hopes to begin a career in the FBI as a special agent in counterterrorism or intelligence. She is particularly interested in how culture influences attitudes and behaviors, especially in the Middle East.
Sophie started interning for C+G the fall after her senior year at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. While in school, she majored in Medieval History and minored in Spanish and Latin American Studies. Previously, Sophie worked in development, helping to raise money for her college's annual fund. After completing her internship, Sophie hopes to attend graduate school.
Rebecca is concurrently pursuing a M.A. in German and European Studies and a Ph.D. in German at Georgetown University. She has lived and worked in Germany and France in a variety of capacities, most recently as Program Implementation Intern for The DO School, and credits these experiences as formative in sparking her passion for communication and cultural exchange. She aspires to bring her expertise to a position with a transatlantic think tank, governmental organization or nonprofit.
Natalie interned with C+G during the summer before her senior year at the University of Connecticut, where she is a Resource Economics major and Political Science minor. Her studies focused on environmental policy and international development. She had previous experience in the world of the environment and politics, having interned for the CT League of Conservation Voters and Senator Chris Murphy. Natalie plans to work in public policy.
Matthew was a summer intern during his fourth-year at the George Washington University, where he majored in Political Science, concentrating on European foreign policy. Before coming to C+G, Matthew worked in public policy and government affairs for several organizations. Matthew plans to complete his education and work in policy or law.
Katherine started interning at C+G during the spring semester of her dual M.A. in Public Policy and European Studies at Georgetown University, studying the intersection of government relations and business affairs. Prior to joining us, Katherine had been active in several nonprofits, including Big Brother Big Sister and Girls on the Run. Her goal is to work in government affairs and corporate social responsibility.
Carly began her internship during the fall semester of her M.A. in Communication program from Johns Hopkins University. Her degree focus is in emergency health communication, and includes strategic and digital communications development. Previously, she worked as an analyst in strategic sourcing at the California Department of General Services. Carly was such a great fit that she joined our team at the end of her internship!
Lindsay started interning for C+G as a third-year student at American University pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Public Communications and American Studies. Lindsay was experienced in news writing and non-profit work, previously interning at a mentoring and literacy organization Everybody Wins! DC. She hopes to share her passion for communications and storytelling to advance social justice causes such as education, environmentalism and economic empowerment.
Jerrod came to us during his summer break from Bowdoin College, where he was a double major in Government and Environmental Studies. He had previously interned as a research assistant for an Environmental History Professor at Yale University. He hopes to work for a communications consulting firm specializing in political campaigns or environmental policy.
